22 November Fall 2019 COAPRT Memo November 22, 2019 By SuperUser Account General 0 COAPRT Accredited Programs, Visitors, and Stakeholders October 31, 2019 - The Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions completed its separation from the National Recreation and Park Association and became an independent organization, incorporated in the State of Washington, effective July 1, 2019. The Council thanks NRPA for its support of the transition and its ongoing collaboration. Additionally, the Council recognizes the following organizations for their generous one-time donations to support the Council’s startup as an independent entity: Illinois Park and Recreation Association; Illinois Park and Recreation Foundation; American Institute of Park Executives/Academy Foundation Board; and Missouri Recreation and Park Association. (April 26, 2019) — The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) today announced the impending separation of the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) from the organization. Effective June 30, 2019, COAPRT will operate as an independent 501(c)(3) organization that recognizes colleges and universities that prepare new professionals to enter the parks, recreation, tourism and related professions. COAPRT Academic Accreditation: Visitor Training February 12, 2020 Familiarize yourself with COAPRT standards and procedures by attending this training workshop. This training will provide an update on Council operations following its transition to an independent organization, and provide an overview of COAPRT accreditation. Call for Nominations: Practitioner Representative The Council is currently seeking nominations for one (1) Practitioner Representative (open nomination), to begin serving at the conclusion of the fall 2019 meeting. Individuals are welcome to self-nominate. Individuals are welcome to self-nominate. The successful candidate will fulfill the remaining two years of a three-year term.
