Core Curriculum of all four undergraduate majors. The Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Department at SUNY Cortland was established in 1948 and was first accredited in 1990. The department offers four B.S. degrees in the following majors: Recreation, with optional concentrations in Leisure/Recreation Program Delivery and Camp Management; Outdoor Recreation, with a required concentration in either Environmental and Cultural Interpretation, Natural Resource Recreation Management, or Outdoor Leadership; Recreation Management; and Therapeutic Recreation. In September 2017, SUNY Cortland received continuing accreditation for its 10-course core curriculum shared by all four majors.

COAPRT Standard 7.01. - Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate the following entry-level knowledge: a) the nature and scope of the relevant park, recreation, tourism or related professions and their associated industries; b) techniques and processes used by professionals and workers in these industries; and c) the foundation of the profession in history, science and philosophy.
