The Program and Event Management program at UNH is designed to prepare students for careers in event planning, tourism, and community recreation and sport. The Department of Recreation Management and Policy has been accredited with the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions since the early 1980s, and is nationally-known for its Therapeutic Recreation and Outdoor Leadership and Management programs.
COAPRT Standard 7.01. - Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate the following entry-level knowledge: a) the nature and scope of the relevant park, recreation, tourism or related professions and their associated industries; b) techniques and processes used by professionals and workers in these industries; and c) the foundation of the profession in history, science and philosophy.
- Outcome:
7.01(e): Students shall understand the conceptual foundations of play, recreation, and leisure, and understand the historical and cultural perspective of recreation and leisure.

- Assessment Method:
The primary direct measure for this outcome uses exam and quiz questions (multiple choice,T/F, matching) to measure understanding of conceptual foundations of play, recreation and leisure. The primary direct measure for this outcome will be scores on an exam and quiz in RMP 490.
- Result:
The results of this measure indicate our target of having more than 80% of students scoring above 85% on both an exam and quiz questions pertaining to the 7.01 learning outcome. For Exam 1: Approximately 93% scored 85% or better. For Quiz 3, approximately 88% scored 85% or better.
COAPRT Standard 7.02. - Students graduating from the program shall be able to demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and evaluate services that facilitate targeted human experiences and that embrace personal and cultural dimensions of diversity.
- Outcome:
7.02(d): Students should understand the primary and secondary dimensions of diversity and the ways in which they are represented in recreation services program design. The primary direct measure for this outcome will be scores on quizzes within the RMP 557 course.

- Assessment Method:
The primary direct measure for this outcome uses quiz questions (multiple choice,T/F, matching) to measure understanding of the social and culturally relevant aspects of program design and delivery. For example, quiz questions focus on how to access federal data sources to inform macro trends in communities; addressing needs, interests, wants, and intentions in culturally-relevant ways, etc.
- Result:
The results of this measure indicate our target of 80% of students scoring above 85% on the quiz questions. Approximately 80% of students scored 85% or better on the quiz questions in RMP 557.
COAPRT Standard 7.03. - Students graduating from the program shall be able to demonstrate entry-level knowledge about operations and strategic management/administration in parks, recreation, tourism and/or related professions..
- Outcome:
7.03(d): Develop a comprehensive marketing or promotional plan for a leisure agency. The primary direct measure that is being used to assess this outcome is the marketing plan from RMP 559.

- Assessment Method:
This outcome was assessed through the evaluation of a marketing plan completed in RMP559. Students will work to develop a comprehensive marketing plan for a recreation, park, tourism, sport, event, or other leisure services company, agency, organization, department, or provider. The marketing plan can be focused on an organization (ex: NH Department of Natural and Cultural Resources), a division or department within an organization (ex: NH Division of Parks and Recreation), or a particular program or service that is provided by the organization (ex: Healthy Parks Healthy People). It includes describing target markets and identifying target market strategies, completing a competitive analysis, using positioning charts, developing marketing objectives and strategies for the agency.
- Result:
The results of this measure indicated that we have exceeded our target of having more than 80% of students scoring above 85% in the assigned content areas on the marketing plan rubric. Approximately 100% of the RMP 559 students scored 85% or above on the marketing plan.
COAPRT Standard 2.05.05
The program annually posts 7.0 series aggregated data and additional evidence reflecting program academic quality and student achievement on their program and/or departmental website. Such information shall be consistent with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements.

The program has a practice of informing the public about the harm of degree mills and accreditation mills.
